18 Mos. old and Growing Strong

Alison is firmly on her feet and walking well!! She's still not uber confident, but she's walking 99.99% of the time. My little people are so funny!! Martin loves to make you laugh! He'll fall down if he thinks you'll laugh for him. What a ham!!! I love it! Alison is very funny as well and loves to play peek-a-boo behind the glass on the door to the deck. She's really smart and figures things out quickly.

We've had a few accidents and "trauma" recently. Alison fell and hit her mouth on the back of the treadmill and bled like nothing I have every seen before! It was awful. The screaming (hers, mine was more yelling) and crying was something. She still has a bit of a fat lip (2 days later), but the doc says her teeth are fine! Later that same day, Martin was playing "chef" and fell off a table onto his head on the deck outside. Needless to say it was a tough day. See the pic to the right, for the "before"......Yes, I am one of those moms that takes the pics before rescuing the child from peril.

Their new favorite thing is the slide that we received as a birthday present. Martin used to zip down uninhibited and run around and do it all over again, but one day he went TOO FAST and flew off the end of the slide and that was the end of that. He still wants to go down, but he prefers going on his stomach - feet first. Of course he's ALMOST as long as the slide, so it's not a lot of action!! Alison has figured out how to go down on her tummy, feet first all by herself. Martin requires assistance with this!

Alison still loves her stuffed Snoopy's (she stole Martin's and has never looked back). She chews on their arms till they stink beyond what is good and right. So they get cycled in as the others go in the wash. Martin's "lovey" is his blanket and Alison has about 10 different stuffed toys that she chews on. Recently, however, martin has decided there's something as important as his Lovey! Cars and trucks and tractors. Anything with wheels or any balls are the end all be all!! He takes them to bed with him and plays with them till he sleeps and when he wakes up in the a.m. This morning I went in and he said "tuckuk" (truck) even though he was holding a car. It's all the same to him. They have wheels, they are trucks! (Details are not important at this stage!)

They both go up and down the stairs, but it is a LONG process!! They love to dilly dally on the stairs to make the fun last longer. Little nutters! Divot makes them laugh hard belly laughs. It's wonderful. Divot will allow them to touch him every once in a while, but mostly plays hard to get. He's still not sure that they aren't a danger. (SMART DOG!)

For such amazing little beings, they don't say a lot of words. Dada, Mama, duck, truck, cheese, uh-oh is a BIG fave! Oopsie, dog, all done (more of a sound) and sign) We use the sign for more and that's been a big lifesaver!!! They love it when we count their fingers and toes and they mimick us without actually saying the words, but it's SO funny because we'll hear them doing it together over the baby monitor!! Too cute!!

They laugh together and scream and cry together, but are able to play independently as well. It's the best of all worlds! They love to eat my cereal, no matter what I am eating.

Their appt. yesterday was great and the next one isn't until they are 2 years old!! Crazy how fast time is flying!!
