2008 is starting with a bang! We had a great Holiday this year. My parents came (Grammy and Grampy) to spend Christmas with us! It was the first time that the kids got excited about Christmas. They love the 'idea' of Santa, but any real facsimile of him was OUT of the question. I didn't even torture them with it this year for the picture!! We had an extra special surprise when Auntie Lissa and Uncle David came over New Year's Weekend and we went to the Broncos game (and they won in overtime!!). It was the last game of the season, but since they are David's favorite and mine as well - a good time was had by all!!
The kids fared very well in the gift department!! Good GRIEF! There is the playhouse and the fire truck and a kitchen and a parking garage. Among the other 400 pieces of food and stuff to go with the kitchen were the View Master (they love to look through the "binoculars") and cartridges and a shopping cart, more Cars - cars (Mommy might have a Cars problem, shhhhh don't tell!) and some balls and paints and brushes. It's really a never ending list. (Movies and Books!)
This past weekend we took them to Playhouse Disney on stage! It was awesome. We managed to be in the front row!! I was worried that they might be a little scared and Ali looked like she would be as soon as the larger characters came out. It was "Broadway for Babies!" Really well done and so much fun! (Except that Daisy is apparently not part of the tour and we LOVE Daisy!)
On Monday's we go to playgroup with a bunch of other Twin Mom's from our Mother's of Multiples Club. It's a nice group. When Ali gets to the point where she'll play and not hang on my leg, we will have a party! Martin's pulling a bit of the shy routine as well, but I can tell he wants to play very bad and will go off and play and then come back. All the kids are around the same age, so it's fun. I like the Mommy's too and am making more friends (finally!).
On Tuesday's right now we are going to Tumbling at the Rec. Center. They love it. Ali will participate - but NOT with the teacher (Ms. Tonia). We are working on that and working towards getting her to be OK without me in arms reach. I really want them to go to preschool, but we have to work on this issue first a bit. That's what this class is about.
Dora, Diego, Blue's Clues and Backyardigans are the favorite shows for them these days. It's pretty cute, they say "Help" in Spanish all the time instead of English. Really funny. It sounds like Aye-you-dem-may (they never spell it on screen for the Spanishly challenged parents!). At least they are getting a tiny something from it!!
Martin can finally REALLY ride his tricycle (We've been practicing in the house because of the cold and snow!) and Ali CAN, but won't try as hard. (I don't want her to be THAT girl.) We are working on it!
They have pretty nice manners and will say thank you very readily, but please is an after thought. Working on that as well!! Their vocabulary is fantastic (as far as I am concerned!).
