HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

It's a little bittersweet! You are One.

Happy Birthday my little babies!! I am a little sad that our first year together is in the history books, but it's been quite a ride. You started as these tiny little helpless little beings. Alison started with help in the NICU and Martin was the smaller. Now, Martin is over an inch taller and more than a pound heavier. Although he feels much heavier.

Alison can be quite independent, but doesn't want you to walk past her too many times without picking her up. She will let you know that you have WRONGED her with a high pitch scream. Yes, my darling little NICU baby can throw a fit. She is sweet and funny and has the blondest hair. It's FINALLY coming in. You officially had hair before your first birthday. Good work Little One! Alison's nicknames are Little One and Sweet Pea. Alison got her first tooth on March 16th. It took it's sweet time, but now you have two teeth. Your two bottom teeth. You were not a happy teether to be sure. It bothered your sleep and caused some crankiness.

Martin is a cuddle bug and loves to hug and be hugged. Quick and easy with a smile for just about everyone. You now have six teeth and working hard on #7! You are drooling like a St. Bernard. Martin's scream is equally as deafening as Alison's. There's nothing delicate about Martin. All Boy as they say! It's true. Your feet and hands are huge but you are fairly tall and slim. Martin stands alone for many many seconds, but upon realizing you are doing it....You slowly bend your knees and get down. You have great balance, but don't quite trust yourself yet.


BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!
You had a 1st birthday party and it was fun. You guys LOVED all the balloons and the cupcake! Martin could care less about the toys you guys received, he played with the balloons for about 3 weeks after the party! It was a star studded party. ALL of your grandparents were here. Your Grandma and Grandpa Knight were there of course and Your Papa Jim and Gigi drove from San Antonio to be here for your big day! Grammy and Grampy Newman flew in from Hawaii (they flew all night long) to be here for the event!! Of course your Auntie Sharlyn and Unca Tracy were there as well! We cooked hamburgers on the grill and had ice cream cake. You ate cupcakes. In the morning you didn't have very good naps. Divot got stuck in the room that Alison naps in and Martin just didn't feel like napping. He was apparently too excited. I was worried about the lack of naps, but in the middle of the party you took a very nice nap and we got you up to eat cake and ice cream. You didn't care one bit that you missed the adults eating their lunch. In fact, it worked out beautifully. Dave Betts was in town for work with a new job and so he managed to be here for your party too. Nancy, Jason and Addie Weissert from across the street and Anne Feeney were also here for you big day. It was great!

So now you are officially toddlers I guess. Martin practically flies up the stairs and Alison is keeping pace. We had your one year appointment and it went very well. Gigi went with me since your dad was traveling and out of town. (Boston)
